Today was the 148th anniversary of Hallidie's Folly, the successfully proven attempt to operate a rail car with wire rope (cable). How appropriate for San Francisco Municipal Railway to reintroduce cable car service that was suspended during the pandemic. Mayor London Breed made remarks to the news agencies and city; she introduced SFMTA Director of Transportation Jeffrey Tumlin. The mayor boarded lucky car 13 for a ceremonial ride out Powell.

To arrive at Powell, I changed things up by parking at Milpitas BART and riding rapid transit into San Francisco.

After ceremonies, lots of photos of cable cars, streetcars, and trolley coaches, and lunch on my own, I walked out Stockton Street to the stairs leading up to California Street, then ascended the block to Powell, where those lines cross the California cars. I rode car 15 down to Market, then caught a ride on 25 out the Mason line to the Bay & Taylor turntable.

I took PCC 1072 down to Drumm Street for the usual photos at that intersection with Market. Walked to the nearby Ferry Building for a couple of Golden Gate Ferry vessels. Returned to Drumm and caught BART back to Milpitas.

There are also a few VTA bus pictures.

Nikon D3500 and LG Q7+ cameras yielded 492 photos.
