The first day of a three day weekend. Saturday and Sunday are the extra days off for the Labor Day holiday the previous
Monday. The Monday of this weekend is my regular day off.
My travel plans were to go to Modesto. I parked at the Dublin/Pleasanton BART station to take a train to the Lake Merritt
station to see the activities of BART's 50th anniversary celebration. A mockup A car end and the BART mobile vehicle were available
along with a section of track and BART Man. When done, I took a train back to Dublin and continued driving to the Central Valley.
Meal stop at Golden Corral in Tracy, then continued on to Modesto. I stopped at Mad Monk (Rasputin Records) and found
music purchases for my friend and myself. I learned today that the Six Flags Mr. Six was dancing to a riff from the Vengaboys
song We Like to Party (Vengabus). And I found Saturday Night Live offered a sketch about Mr. Six's granddaughter. Understanding the
song reference and the original commercials, I laughed and laughed at it.
I then drove to the southern part of Modesto for a few city and county bus photos. After checking in at my motel, I went out to browse the Vintage
Faire Mall, followed by dinner at Outback Steakhouse.
To start the day, I found VTA Gillig 0164, the Ride With Pride bus, on route 23 on Santa Clara St. in San Jose, and there are a couple of
Wheels buses at the Dublin station.
