The annual San Jose Veterans Day Parade was held at noon. Participants staged on W. Santa Clara St.
west of the CA 87 overpass. VTA New Flyers 8312 and 8333 preceded and followed, respectively,
Gillig 4403 in its military tribute livery and GMC 6512, the San Jose City Lines bus
dedicated to Rosa Parks. The San Jose Fire Department began the parade followed by the police. Spread throughout were
active and retired military personnel representing the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard,
and Space Force (the long banner included their flag, but I didn't notice any other representation
of them in the marchers). Various civic organizations and government agencies were present as well.
The parade lasted an hour and fifteen minutes. Weather was pouring rain at the start, but the sun began
shining right at the end. I have to respect the folks marching in that rain, for I know some of them
may have experienced worse conditions than just getting wet. That's the idea of service. Parade watchers,
including me when I wasn't photographing, waved at the paraders, and many waved back, some even thanking
us for turning out in inclement weather. I think they also appreciated our supporting the armed forces
personnel being honored with the parade. My photo spot was the AC Hotel between 87 and Almaden Blvd.,
right where marchers began their 0.9 mile trek to Plaza de Cesar Chavez on Market Street.
Nikon D5600 camera yielded 661 photos.
