ABOUT DOGGIE DINER:
Doggie Diner
was a San Francisco Bay Area restaurant chain that operated from
1949 to 1986. The dachshund head was a prominent feature of the chain. This page
shows a number of preserved Doggie Diner heads.
TREASURE ISLAND:
These three heads from the former Doggie Diner fast food chain were mounted
on a trailer sitting on Treasure Island. I took these photos on
January 22, 2011 during a bus excursion. The last
photo features Don Lewis posing with me and the heads. Seven photos added 03/20/11.
The Doggie Diner head trailer, owned by John Law, on Treasure Island on April 9, 2017. The three heads were refurbished
since my 2011 pictures. Eighteen photos added 04/10/17.
The Doggie Diner head trailer is parked outside the Treasure Island Fire House. Here it is again on
July 9, 2019. I drove around the block a couple of times and stopped back after a tour of the island.
The sun was in the east, so the pictures have some backlight to them. Eight photos added 07/13/20.
SLOAT BOULEVARD:
A supervisor convinced the City and County of San Francisco to preserve this Doggie Diner head originally at a former location of the restaurant on
Sloat Blvd. This pole with head attached is located in the median of Sloat near the Zoo. Six photos added 03/20/11.
The Doggie Diner head on Sloat Blvd. on August 11, 2015. Three photos added 08/12/15.

A Doggie Diner head has been located in the Bascom Ave. location of Streetlight Records in San Jose for many years. Photographed at their collectible corner
on March 19, 2011. Three photos added 03/20/11.
