PCC streetcar no. 1007 is a 1948 St. Louis Car Co. vehicle original to the Muni. The car was originally
double ended, converted to single end operation in 1955. Morrison-Knudsen rebuilt the car in 1995
for the new F Market line, applying a gray and red livery similar to the Breda LRVs.
This unpopular livery was replaced in 1997 with a tribute Philadelphia Suburban
Transportation Co. ("Red Arrow Lines"). The colors were applied first, and later lettering for PST.
About 2019, car 1007 went to Brookville Equipment Co. for a midlife refurbishment. Part of this rebuild involved
a more accurate rendering of the lettering and enumeration. She returned to San Francisco in December 2020 and
has begun the thousand mile run in to test the car.
PHOTOS TAKEN APRIL 1963:
This April 1963 shot shows the "new" (from 1955) rear end of PCC 1007 at Market at Seventh
Sts. Wings are only applied to the "new" front of the car. The doors are marked "In" and "Exit".
In the distance at Jones/McAllister Sts. are the Crocker Anglo Bank and the Paramount Theatre. In 2011 a check cashing place and D.J.'s World of Stereo II (a great place to buy
turntable cartridges), respectively, occupy this location. On the left is the
Shaw Hotel, in 2011 the Renoir Hotel. The buildings next to Shaw Hotel, atop which we see signage for the nearby
Greyhound bus station on Seventh, were torn down and replaced by the extension of Seventh northward to McAllister
and a larger sidewalk area leading to the current UN Plaza. What is now Donut World (location beneath the
Greyhound sign) is all that remains of this set of buildings.
Scan comes from a slide in my collection and was added 09/24/11.

Cars 1007 and 1015 were chartered May 25, 1997 to celebrate the new "Red Arrow Lines" livery of 1007. Here it is
at the Mint Yard and at Transbay Terminal. The livery lacked the "Phila. Suburban Trans. Co." words
above the windows; they were added at a later date.
The edge of the United States! Here's 1007 at Taraval and 48th Ave. (a short walk from the Pacific
Ocean, known as Ocean Beach on many Muni routes) on the May 25, 1997 charter.
